“E’ una meraviglia ai nostri occhi, perché fonde il metallo, cuoce i nostri cibi, illumina le notti, scalda il corpo e il cuore. Senza l’astro solare, che di fuoco è costituito, non avremmo né cibo né vita. Perciò l’uomo da tempo immemore, lo celebra e lo onora.” (Anonimo, sec. XVIII)
Sarà proprio il Fuoco – elemento costituente del nostro pianeta, elemento primordiale che permette la vita e che ha cambiato radicalmente il destino dell’uomo – il filo conduttore di un evento che giunge a Milano e che ha come obiettivo quello di far conoscere e apprezzare ulteriormente una regione “fuori dai luoghi comuni”, una terra ricca di tradizioni, storia ed eterogenei paesaggi naturali: il Molise.
L’evento, che si terrà dalle 16:30 presso la Darsena di Milano, in collaborazione con Expo in Città e il Comune di Milano, si struttura su più momenti, che vedono sempre il fuoco protagonista.
“Il fuoco che cuoce i cibi”: si terrà una processione in onore di San Francesco Caracciolo, santo patrono dei cuochi, molisano d’adozione. L’urna del Santo sarà portata in processione dai cuochi della Federazione Italiana lungo la Darsena del Naviglio per arrivare alla Basilica di Sant’Eustorgio dove è prevista una funzione religiosa.
“Il fuoco che fonde i metalli”: la Pontificia Fonderia Marinelli di Agnone (IS), rinomata ed antica fabbrica di campane tutt’ora in attività, ha realizzato una campana dedicata all’Expo da donare alla città di Milano. Tale campana verrà quindi benedetta durante l’evento.
“Il fuoco che illumina le notti”: a conclusione dell’interessante pomeriggio, in Viale Gorizia (nei pressi della Darsena) si terrà la ‘Ndocciata, la tradizionale sfilata di grandi torce d’abete che si svolge annualmente l’8 e il 24 dicembre ad Agnone. E’ uno dei più grandi e spettacolari riti antichi del fuoco solstiziale al mondo, nato per celebrare l’appuntamento annuale con l’astro solare.
In concomitanza con questo appassionante evento, il 25 e il 26 settembre in Piazza XXIV Maggio (sempre nell’area circostante la Darsena) si terrà inoltre l’esposizione delle eccellenze molisane con stand espositivi e di promozione territoriale, degustazioni, e vendita di prodotti tipici ed artigianali.
Il Giorno del Fuoco, ambasciatore d’eccellenza della Regione Molise, è quindi finalizzato a favorire la conoscenza – anche fuori confini territoriali – delle tipicità del sistema molisano.

The fire – one of the constituents of our planet, a primordial element that allows life and which has changed man’s destiny – will be the main theme of an event in Milan and whose objective is to know and appreciate a region “out of the ordinary”, a land rich in traditions, history and miscellaneous natural landscapes: the Molise Region.
The event, which takes place from 16:30 at Darsena of the Naviglio, in collaboration with Expo in Città and the municipality of Milan, is structured in several stages, with the leading role of the fire.
“The fire cooks foods“: there will be a procession in honor of San Francesco Caracciolo, patron saint of cooks, who lived all his life in the Molise Region. The urn of the saint will be carried in procession by the chefs of the Italian Federation along the Darsena of the Naviglio to reach the Basilica of Sant’Eustorgio where there will be a mass.
“The fire melts metals“: the Pontificia Fonderia Marinelli di Agnone (IS), a renowned and ancient bell factory still active, has made a bell dedicated to the Expo to be donated to the municipality of Milan. The bell will then be blessed during the event.
“The fire lights up the nights” at the conclusion of the interesting afternoon, in Viale Gorizia (near the Darsena of the Naviglio) there will be the ‘Ndocciata. This is a traditional parade of big fir torches which takes place annually on 8 and 24 December in Agnone, a town in the Molise Regione. It is one of the largest and most spectacular ancient rites of the solstice fire in the world, created to celebrate the annual meeting with the solar star.
In conjunction with this exciting event, on 25 and 26 September at Piazza XXIV Maggio (near the Darsena of the Naviglio) there will also take place an exhibition of the excellences of the Molise Region with stands of territorial promotion, tasting and sale of local products and handcrafts.
The Day of Fire, excellence ambassador of the Molise Region, is therefore aimed at promoting awareness – even outside territorial boundaries – of the unicity of this territory.
